The merger mania continues with a note from the Central Region.
With that in mind, the BSA Central Region volunteer leadership has re-examined the structure of area Scouting programs and discussed options with local leaders. As a result of these discussions, four area councils—the Chicago Area Council, headquartered in Chicago; the Northwest Suburban Council, headquartered in Mount Prospect, Illinois; the Des Plaines Valley Council, headquartered in La Grange,
Illinois; and the Calumet Council, headquartered in Munster, Indiana—are working with regional volunteers to determine a new structure that will allow us to best serve the youth in these
communities.
As to to the timing and structure:
Whether this will follow the Michigan (Field Service Councils) Model or the more traditional merger structure remains to be seen. The note further states that no changes will take place before January 1, 2015.
With 2015 being the 100th Anniversary of the OA, you would hope that the existing lodges would get to attend the NOAC under their existing structure.
More information as it becomes available.
