Five Middletown Scouts earn Eagle rank | recordonline.com
Five Scouts from Boy Scout Troop 169 in Middletown were promoted to the rank of Eagle Scout Sept. 4.
To earn the highest rank in Scouting, each Scout must complete at least 21 merit badges, have a leadership position in his troop, and complete a service project that benefits a community or religious organization.
John Minerly worked this summer at Ten Mile River as a counselor for the handicraft lodge. He was a volunteer at the Mamakating Cub Camp for several years, and attended National Youth Leadership Training. His Eagle project was to rehab the Pine Bush High School courtyard.
