Section NE-3A 1993 Conclave Issues

The 1993 Section NE-3A Conclave theme was “The Arrow Illuminates the Future.” Thanks to Roy Weatherbee for all of the images.

First up is the participant pocket patch:

I want the people of America to be able to work less for the government and more for themselves. I want them to have the rewards of their own industry. This is the chief meaning of freedom. Until we can reestablish a condition under which the earnings of the people can be kept by the people, we are bound to suffer a very severe and distinct curtailment of our liberty. — Calvin Coolidge (1873-1933), 30th US President

  1. I have a couple of comments to add…

    1. I’ve had several examples of the trading post issue over the years, and none of them had any evidence of the loops being cut off – in fact they appear not to have ever had loops sewn on in the first place. This is different than the practice (in other years) of cutting off the loops off. It appears these patches were ordered both ways that year — Perhaps this was a cost-cutting measure, as it costs a little more to have the loops sewn on in the first place.

    2. Given that NE-3A had STAFF issues for all of the other years 1990-1994, I’ve often wondered if there was a staff/host/COC issue for1993 as well. I have no specific information, but would not be surprised to learn of another border color. Is there anyone who attended this year who could shed some light on the topic?

  2. Roy,

I’ve updated the post to reflect your comment on the lack of loops on the TP issue.

I can say I have never seen a staff or host issue from this lodge (Pretty sure Buckskin was the host Lodge). During the early to mid 1990’s there were a few active traders from that lodge where I think I would have at least seen it or heard of any host/staff issue, but I will keep looking too.
