Times Square Jamboree – July 31, 2010

Can’t make it to the Hill?  You can join in on the celebration in Times Square in the heart of NYC.

On Saturday, July 31, in TIMES SQUARE, the whole NYC Scouting family – past, present and future – celebrates 100 years of Scouting. The full day of events will feature a Scouting expo with displays and activities that demonstrate the benefits of our program. The evening will culminate in a special New York City-style show and the nationwide broadcast of “A Shining Light Across America” from the National Scout Jamboree with two major viewing areas for a Scouting audience, a live stage, and broadcasted content on the “big screens” throughout Times Square. We expect 5,000 Scouts and Scouters to make it a day or weekend activity!

We invite you to visit New York City on the weekend of July 30 – August 1. Throughout the course of the weekend, New York City and its many tourist attractions will offer discounts and special access at museums, ballparks, restaurants, city parks and much more. Bring your family, friends, or your unit! Visitors can stay at one of the GNYC camps outside of the City. The weekend’s activities, featuring Saturday’s main event, will draw a Scouting community from around the world!

Of course there will be a patch too.

It seemed the world was divided into good and bad people. The good ones slept better… while the bad ones seemed to enjoy the waking hours much more.
