The 1997 Section conclave was hosted by Monaken Lodge #103 and was held at their Camp Seven Mountains. The theme was Celebrate Our Ties To Our Past.
Rob Higgens shares an image of the pocket patch issued for the event.
Were any other items issued for this event?
Update July 2013 Todd Rogers advises that this patch was issued at the 1997 Section Conclave before the Section realignment
This is currently a need of mine.
The Chenille that I have pictured (apologies for the poor photo quality) was issued at the last NE-5 Conclave in 1997. There were 144 Made/Issued. This was the same conclave that the NE-5 round was sold. It’s the one on your site with the GMY border and the totems around the edge that says NE-5 in the middle along with Ordeal, Ordeal, Vigil arrows.
Anyone have one for trade or sale?
According to the OA Section List, the following lodges made up NE-5 at this time
- Wagion Lodge #6
- Langundowi Lodge #46
- Enda Lechauhanne Lodge #57
- Monaken Lodge #103
- Ah’Tic Lodge #139
- Ho-Nan-Ne-Ho-Ont Lodge #165
- Kuskitannee Lodge #168
- Gyantwachia Lodge #255
- Nachamawat Lodge #275

“I am for doing good to the poor, but…I think the best way of doing good to the poor, is not making them easy in poverty, but leading or driving them out of it. I observed…that the more public provisions were made for the poor, the less they provided for themselves, and of course became poorer. And, on the contrary, the less was done for them, the more they did for themselves, and became richer.” – Benjamin Franklin
As this was the last conclave for NE-5 due to an upcoming reorganization, there were two additional items put out at this event, both backpatches. Both are depicted on Rob’s site.
The first has a GMY border and BLK background. It depicts the totems of each of the ten lodges in the section (6, 46, 57, 103, 139, 165, 168,255, 275 and 540). http://flaps.oasections.com/img/ne5/NE5round.jpg
The second is a limited edition Chenille backpatch. It was made by the Krelman company and only 144 were made, each are numbered on the back. It reads “10 Lodges One Great Section”. It has a LBL border and WHT body, with an outline of the section and NE-5 and the FDL in Red.
LMK if you need pictures.
