I have previously posted about Philmont arrowheads from the specialized programs held at Philmont. During the year 2000 these Philmont Arrowheads had a red border and P2K embroidered on the patch.
Here is a n eBay auction for a P2K Ranch Hand Arrowhead. This is the first time I’ve seen an arrowhead from this particular program area.
Clicking on the image, will bring you to the auction results for the next few months.
Here is what the BSA website has to say about the program:
Ranch Hands is a program for Scouts and Venturers who have knowledge of horsemanship and horse care and want to expand their skills and experience. The Ranch Hand crew will work with the horse department staff, taking care of Philmont’s 300 horses and 80 burros, hauling hay, saddling, and performing other horse program tasks.
I’m sure since it is a limited program, even a ‘regular’ Ranch Hand Arrowhead would command a significant premium to the standard.

Here’s more information about this patch. I was one of 4, that’s right only four, people to get this patch in 2000. I’m sure others were made and found their way around but there were only four legitimate Ranch Hand patches handed out in the summer of 2000 with the P2K. To my knowledge it’s the rarest patch from that year. I can’t imagine parting with mine. I’m curious where this one came from, or who.
Just an auction I saw on eBay, no idea who the buyer or seller were.
