I had recently posted about some more merger rumors in NYS including:
There was also some idle talk that the grand plan from National was that all of NY State would eventually become 5 Councils. There was no timetable (or corroboration) for this.
Matt Crance sent along a link to this image, which represents the Girl Scout Councils in New York State. since the image is in the public domain I’m reproducing it here:
Is this the future for the BSA in NY too?

Rochester and Syracuse would have be seperate. That is a huge swath of land. Everyone would have to drive 3 hours for a 1 hour lodge meeting…
Matt,
You may be right, but some of the western states which are larger than NYS have a single lodge or only a couple of lodges. It might the chapter system to some lodges that don’t currently use it.
I also seem to have a memory that some lodge uses/used some sort of teleconference for some of its meetings.
Dear Bil, et al.,
I think we will have the following:
Buffalo (159, 165, 339)
Rochester (30, 95+417)
Syracuse (34, 219, 247)
Albany (as is)
Binghamton (172, 402)
Poughkeepsie (28, 86)
NYC
Long Island
Some shifting might come too. Perhaps Rip Van Winkle, Iroquois Trail, and Otschodela will be divided in a merger.
Unless, of course, Buffalo and Rochester are in the same council. Then it’s essentially meetings somewhere around Geneseo.
