Looking for a different camping event after NOAC and before school starts up again? I recently received information about a Cooperstown Invitational Camporee 2009 to be held the weekend of August 21 -23, 2009.
The details include:
We are teaming up with him, The Baseball Hall of Fame, and The Fenimore Art Museum to provide a weekend of camping, baseball, history and scouting activities.
A special patch will be offered for the weekend from The Farmers’ Museum and there is a Patch available from the Hall of Fame as well.
And a bit more from the site:
Otschodela Council BSA Troop 1254 & Venture Crew 101 & The New York State Historical Association & Farmers Museum are Pleased to invite Scouts, Scouters and their Families to the Cooperstown Invitational Camporee 2009
The Weekend will include activities such as:
•   Camping at historic Iroquois Farm on River Road in Cooperstown
•   Campfires and a Gateway Competition
•   Passes to The Fenimore Art Museum, The Farmers’ Museum and the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum
•   Tours of Native American Interpretive sites
•   19th Century “Musteringâ€

•   Flint NappingCost: A fee of $12 per participant will cover the camp fee, camporee entrance fee, admission to all 3 museums, and a commemorative scout patch (1 adult free with every 10 paid scouts). Bathrooms, firewood, and water will be located on site.
Not too much time left, but if your looking for a late summer event and a another reason to visit Cooperstown with your troop or crew, this may be worth checking out.
