Thanks to Dick Krzyiewski and the rest of the crew from the William Hillcourt Scout Museum and Carson Buck Memorial Libraryfor the Central New York Trade-O-Ree this past Friday and Saturday held at Camp Woodlands. I picked up a number of new and old needs and learned a few things which I will be working into a number of posts over the next couple of weeks.
While there, I heard a few interesting things which I thought I would pass on:
- Man-A-Hattin Lodge #82 will be issuing two 2-piece sets for the 2009 NOAC a fundraiser and trader sets. Same design with different border colors.
- Section NE-3A is planning to issue a Section set for the 2009 NOAC, a flap for each lodge and a jacket patch are scheduled.
- Otahnagon Lodge #172 has issued 2 flaps for the 2009 National Vice Chief Dan Higham.
- Kayanernh-Kowa Lodge #219 has issued two 2-piece sets and a single flap commemorating both their 10th Anniversary and 2009 NOAC.
And another one bites the dust?
- More merger rumors are in the air, will this be the last NOAC for Kayanernh-Kowa Lodge #219 and Tahgajute Lodge #247? Reportedly the Council Executive for Cayuga County Council has retired and merger talks with Hiawatha Seaway Council are ongoing with a fall merger/absorption possible.
NY OA Comes to Market?
- Another story at the TOR was that a collection of a major NY collector from northern NY was on the market and was recently been sold. No sign of it was seen at the TOR, but there was speculation that it was bought to resell rather than primarily to hold. Where will it first show up?

Dear Bill,
I went to my home lodge’s OA weekend on Fri. and heard it was Syracuse and Binghamton that were to merge.
Hiawatha Seaway Council has definitely hired a District Director (I believe that is his title) to serve the Scouting program in Cayuga County Council until the official merger (this summer I believe) with a purported fall merger for the lodges.
Then, if, Ray, you are right, 10 lodges should attend the NE-3 Conclave this year, and then 8 next year.
I believe that is correct given 4 lodges will become 2 (95 + 417 = new lodge AND 219 + 247 = new lodge)
I can confrim that Hiawatha Seaway board voted 32-1 last Wednesday evening in favor of the merger with Cayuga County Council. Cayuga County was also voting on the merger but expect it to be approved.
