John and Roy have already written about the new permanent site chosen by the Boy Scouts for the National Jamboree. Part of the press release added that there were also plans for a new high adventure base in nearby West Virginia.
Ed Evans provided a link on Patch-L to a story on the high advenure base from the Register-Herald.
“West Virginia has a lot of high-adventure areas that would be appealing to the Scouts.â€In mind are such activities as rock climbing, canoeing, boating, whitewater rafting, kayaking, hiking — recreation well in abundance at the site being eyed by the Scouts.
Boy Scouts of America sifted through some 80 proposals in 28 states before narrowing its choices for the high-adventure camp in Raleigh/Fayette, if the purchase can be worked out.
And the group is planning on a permanent home for its Jamboree near Goshen, Va., about 60 miles east of White Sulphur Springs.
More as it becomes available.
