John Pannell is running several series of posts on Area and Section conclaves, similar to my posts on New York State Issues. One of the series is on North Carolina Area and Section Conclaves. He began the series with one of the earliest North Carolina OA Issues, the 1945 Area I Fellowship Meeting Slide.
The first OA area fellowship, the precursor of today’s section conclaves, in North Carolina was held in 1945 at Camp Graystone.  Tali Taktaki 70 served as the host lodge.  Area I, in existence from 1945-1949, covered the entire state of North Carolina. Memorabilia from these early meetings are arguably the most highly prized conclave insignia from North Carolina.
There is one available on eBay now. It has a starting bid of $500. Where will this one end up?
OA Conclaves are one of the few remaining mainly uncataloged areas in OA Collecting.

We’re working on it. At the OAImages blog, John Pannell is going through all the North Carolina conclaves, and I’m posting about all the Region 3 area meetings/conferences through the end of the twelve-region system in 1973. I’m only up to 1955 so far–lots of ground left to cover–but it will all end up posted.
IMO, the starting bid is probably scaring folks away. Who wants to be the only bidder at “top dollar”? …especially given today’s environment.
John,
Looks like you were right, not even a last minute snipe. Now this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=300265006275 a 1948 OA NORTH CAROLINA FELLOWSHIP MEETING from just a couple of years later started at $ 0.99 and is now over $ 200.00 with nearly 3 days to go.
