We can now close the books on the twelfth annual Shu Shu Gah Lodge #24 TOR. It is was held yesterday on November 17, 2007 on a brisk fall day in Orbach Arena at Camp Alpine.
The Camp had cut back on the amount of space available to us as the climbing wall was in use all day. While this made for some cramped quarters, we had a full room with a good amount of walk in traffic.
- Walk in Traffic
Shu Shu Gah Lodge, does not charge any admission fees for the TOR in order to help with the walk in traffic. We also held our annual Indian Seminar the same weekend, I’m not sure what the final count for that event was, but when Friday night registration closed down, the count was already 185 with more day only attendees expected on Saturday.
- Trading
Along with the increased traffic, I (personally at least) did more trading than normal at a TOR. Thanks to Joe, Matt, Johnny, Tom, Brian, Beau, and anyone else I forgotten for the trades. I filled in a few older holes, filled a few new holes and learned about some new issues which you will be seeing here in upcoming posts.
- Youth Participation
More importantly, at least in my eyes were the number of Scouts in the room throughout the day. I made at least a half dozen or 8 1:1 trades with Scouts who seemed to be having a good time adding to there collections.
- Lodge Auction
The Lodge auction was a success, over 70 lots were offered and all but a handful sold. Some with some spirited bidding. The proceeds from the auction will go to help fulfill the Lodge’s commitment to the Reeve’s Lodge Capital Campaign to aid in renovations in Camp Alpine.
A Patch was issued for donations to the Lodge auction which is pictured below.
I still have a small number available for anyone wishing to make a donation for the 2008 Auction. You can contact me at nyoatrader@(nospam)nyoatrader.com Remove the (nospam) from the address.
Thanks to all who attended, hope to see you all again next year.
- Save the Date
Reservations have already been confirmed with the Council for the the 13th Annual TOR. It will be held on November 22, 2008. More details will follow.

Hi Bill :
The TOR was exceptionally well done this year. The traffic was better than ever. I was able to fill several very tough spots on my needs list. It was great to meet some trading partners from the years past. Thanks again for a great day of scout fellowship at Camp Alpine.
Bill
Another great TOR, got a few conclave needs as well as some great fellowship, those who miss it this year put it on the calender for next year
