A recent eBay Auction reminded me of a correction required for the Blue Book. There is an incorrect listing for Suanhacky Lodge #49. the X1.5 is actually the Lodge #49 Amagansett Chapter X2 which was previously listed.
Gene Berman the NYC Blue Book Editor and Suanhacky Lodge member explains:
Hi Bill,
You are correct. This was never a lodge issue. You are also correct that it was used by Amagansett Chapter-North District in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. There was a larger one and this. Since they were simultaneous its irrelevant which is X1 or X2. It was a stock item sold at Tannebaum’s Dept. Store, Wilson’s Dept Store and other Scout Outfitters of the era. Because it is generic is was also used by Lodge 520 and Lodge 430. Years ago I showed up at a TOR and I couldn’t understand why some of the west coast traders were falling over themselves to get this from me. I later found out is was the same patch as a 430 X1 which was a real rarity out west.
