The most recent edition of the Blue Book (VI) added a number of variations from different lodges. Many of them are a direct result of Bill Topkis and Jeff Morley comparing their collections prior to their sale to the Las Vegas Scout Museum.
I tend to think that we list too many variations and would be better served if we, as Blue Book editors, used MVE (Many Varieties Exist) with a note on what the variety is, rather than creating a, b, c, d, e, f, g’s,….
One of these is the Suanhacky Lodge S4 variations. The difference to me is barely discernable difference in the Green hill behind the lake. The S4a is described as GRN (green) and the S4b as BGR (Bright Green)
I have what I think are the two variations. If anyone has a pair showing a more pronounced difference I would be interested in trading for them or at least getting a scan.
The top patch I believe is the S4a (the green appears slightly darker) and the bottom patch the S4b.
I agree, single, barely discernable color differences could be labeled as MVE. However a dramatic color difference would still be cause for a varitaion.
