Another example of one of the recent trends on fakes.
Produce a patch for lodges that never issued a patch, no longer exist and don’t use any of the Boy Scout trademarks. It certainly reduces the number of potential complaints to authority.
The Blue Book reports that Sislija Lodge #19 originally chatered as Buffalo Lodge #19 in 1925 and sometime after changed to Sislija.
The Blue Book stats for this one would be:
ZS1 YEL C WHT YEL – RED WWW, arrow left; modern era fake (2006)
I gotta say, with the plethora of HIDEOUS Lodge flaps out there, ruining both interest amongst potential new collectors, as well as driving down the market for us fogies, what these fakers NEED to do, is put their talents to work for their OWN Lodge, and help THEM just concentrate on turning out some decent-looking REGULAR issue flaps, for starters!
I don’t WANT one – I don’t NEED one – but the two fakes you show here (the 19 & 34), have a rather nice, if plain, design. Someone needs to remind those who design flaps, that sometimes, “less is more!” I’ve seen flaps that look so “busy,” I can’t tell if it’s the Lenni Lenape legend (in the space of a 2 piece flap, or less!), or if it’s an ultrasound of one of my kids (which always looked like a 1970’s weather radar sweep of the area, anyway!)! ‘Busy,’ does NOT always equal, ‘better,’ in regards to flap design!
