Another Scouting Blog and Podcast

What is a Podcast?

As Wikipedia describes it “Podcasting is the distribution of audio or video files, such as radio programs or music videos, over the Internet using either RSS or Atom syndication for listening on mobile devices and personal computers. The term podcast, like “radio“, can mean both the content and the method of delivery. Podcasters’ websites also may offer direct download of their files, but the subscription feed of automatically delivered new content is what distinguishes a podcast from a simple download or real-time streaming (see below). Usually, the podcast features one type of “show” with new episodes either sporadically or at planned intervals such as daily, weekly, etc.”

On his blog, Ben Killen describes it as “At the risk of oversimplification, a podcast is an audio show that is instantly distributed through the internet—to computers and portable music devices around the world. Think of it as a traditional radio talk-show that’s transmitted by way of the internet instead of radio waves.”

Ben has created what to my knowledge is the first Patch Collecting-related podcast.  It can be found at Clothtalk

Take a wander over and take a listen.  The first podcast is up on a variety of topics; “topics include OA Section Conclaves, Ebay: The world’s Trade-O-Ree, 1950 National Jamboree OA Service Corps arm band, Patch trading and collecting for the beginner, and the $71,000 1947 World Jamboree subcamp patch. including “.
